Business litigation, arbitration, and appeals in Illinois.
Collections is most of what we do, but it’s not all of it. Ansari Business Litigation represents businesses in contract, partnership, and commercial disputes in Illinois state and federal courts, in arbitration before JAMS, the American Arbitration Association, and other forums, and in appeals before the Illinois Appellate Court and the Seventh Circuit.
Disputes we handle
Breach of contract and warranty disputes. Partnership, shareholder, and fiduciary-duty claims. Vendor, supplier, and customer disputes. Non-compete and restrictive-covenant matters. Commercial lease disputes. Fraud and fraudulent-transfer claims, including those arising from collection matters. Confirmation and enforcement of arbitration awards.
Arbitration
Many commercial contracts require it. We handle arbitrations from demand through award before JAMS, AAA, and other forums, and we confirm awards as judgments so they can be enforced. The firm’s collections template system includes arbitration demands for the forums our clients’ contracts name.
Appeals
Humza Ansari served as a staff attorney at the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, where his work involved reviewing briefs and records and preparing matters for decision. That experience informs how we build a trial record, when a post-judgment motion is required before an appeal, and how to write a brief a reviewing court can use. We handle appeals from our own trial matters and consult with trial counsel on preserving issues and drafting dispositive motions, motions in limine, and jury instructions.
How we work and charge
The same process discipline applies: an early written assessment of the claims, defenses, likely cost, and realistic outcomes; a plan with stages; and regular reporting. Litigation and arbitration are billed hourly or on flat fees by stage; see Pricing.
